CHRISTMAS SPICED EGGNOG

Eggnog is always a kind of real Christmas treat. Just for the ones who like brandy, bourbon or vodka. I don't like any of them, so a I swop it for Grand Marnier and made a winter spiced eggnog. It was delicious! Have You ever tried it? Don't miss it.

Ingredients:

500 ml milk
300 ml single cream
100 gr granulated sugar
1 vanilla pod
1/2 orange zest
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
3 cardamom pods
6 egg yolks
50 ml Grand Marnier

  1. Pour milk and cream into a pan. Add the scattered vanilla pod, orange zest, star anise, cinnamon stick and cardamom pods. Heat on low avoid to boil then remove from the hob.
  2. Meanwhile put the egg yolks and sugar into a metal bowl.  Pour the milk mixture over a sieve into a jug. Add the warm milk to the egg yolks and stir continuosly with a wire whisk. Put the bowl over a pan with simmering water on low. Don't let the bottom of bowl  reach the top of water. Heat on medium and stir  until the mixture gets smooth and slightly thickened. It takes about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Remove the bowl from the pan carefully and leave to cool to room temperature. Add Grand Marnier and pour into a clean jug and chill for 2 hours better for a night. Serve chilled in small glasses, garnish with some grated nutmeg, orange zest or mint sprig.
